The Networking and Supporting for HIV and Aids (NEST) organisation on Saturday launched a Nurse Aide programme in Chivhu, aimed at empowering women in the area.

The organisation assists in training aides to enable them provide home-based care to the needy, who include Aids patients, orphans and the disabled.

Twenty graduands received certificates from NEST managing director Mavis Chiguvu after completion of a three-month course.

She said women empowerment was the answer for the nation and motherly love was paramount in the fight against the Aids pandemic.

“By 2015 the circle should be broken and all children must be born free from HIV and Aids,” said. Chiguvu said the nurse aide course must be used as a base for further studies and urged recipients to go for advanced training in healthcare.
