A Zimbabwean dealer who last month smuggled dagga into Botswana was slapped with a five-year jail term by a Francistown magistrate.

According to reports, Prince Howard (25) pleaded guilty to the charges of smuggling and selling the illicit drug in the neigbouring country.

Howard, of West Acre settlement about 30km outside Bulawayo, was brought before Francistown chief magistrate Mokwadi Gabanagae last week.

In addition to the five-year jail term, he was fined 7 000 pula and if he fails to pay it he would serve an additional one-year jail term.

It was the State’s case that on November 16, Howard was selling dagga weighing 14,8 grams at Mathangwane Village leading to his arrest.
