A commuter omnibus driver who was allegedly speeding was involved in a road accident that left him and three other passengers seriously injured along the Mutare-Masvingo Road on Monday.
The accident happened at around 2pm when the driver, Kuziwa Mukoko, reportedly lost control of the vehicle before it veered off the road and landed in a gully.
Police said the accident was most likely due to human error.
They added that human error continued to be the major cause of road accidents in the country and advised people to adhere to road rules.
The commuter omnibus, with seven passengers on board, was destined for Zimunya in Manicaland. When approaching the said 15km peg, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle veered off the road and landed in a gully.
The driver was allegedly speeding and he failed to exercise due care on the road thus causing an accident that injured four people, said acting Manicaland police spokesperson Sergeant Muzindiwa Clean.

The injured were taken to Mutare Provincial Hospital where they are reported to be in a stable condition.
