Anti-riot police yesterday broke a demonstration by Women of Zimbabwe Arise (Woza) who had thronged Parliament building calling for peace and love.

Freelance journalist Anderson Manyere who was taking pictures at the demonstration was arrested.

Other journalists were forced to run away as police pounced on everyone on the scene. Magodonga Mahlangu, a Woza leader, called on South African President Jacob Zuma, who is the facilitator the country’s negotiations, to intervene.

Woza founder and director Jenni Williams said her organisation will continue to fight for women’s rights.
