Police in Kwekwe have launched a manhunt for the manager of a leading clothing retail shop who allegedly swindled his employer of $20 000 and fled the city late last month.

Kwekwe police Criminal Investigation Department spokesperson Detective Sergeant Israel Mhondiwa told NewsDay yesterday they had launched a manhunt for Charles Charumbira, a branch manager at Topics Kwekwe.

“We are searching for the gentleman in connection with the alleged crime and therefore appeal to members of the public with any information regarding his whereabouts to visit the nearest police station or contact Assistant Inspector Mugwisi on 0774 487 947, 05524548,” said Mhondiwa.

Charumbira is alleged to have conned his employer by opening fictitious clothing accounts and later credited them with goods purchased on cash.

Police alleged between January and May this year Charumbira collected cash for goods sold and converted it to his own use.

As a result, the retail shop allegedly lost $20 041.
