A Harare man, who has been on the run for three months after allegedly breaking into provincial magistrate Kudakwashe Jarabini’s house, has been arrested and charged with unlawful entry into premises in aggravated circumstances.
Yananai Masunda (32) was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Anita Tshuma, who remanded him in custody to June 20 after the State opposed bail.
Masunda’s alleged accomplice Maxmillan Dunamutuna is already in custody over the same case having been arrested in February this year. The duo allegedly went to Jarabini’s home in Westgate Area D where they scaled over the wall to gain entry.
The two men then allegedly used a crowbar to cut off the padlock for the kitchen screen door to enter the house.
While inside they allegedly stole a 42-Inch Samsung Plasma television, an electric jug and other household property.
Prosecutor Elaine Mokora opposed bail arguing that Masunda was a “flight risk”.

“Since the arrest of his accomplice Dunamutuna, Masunda has been on the run and some of the stolen property is yet to be recovered from where accused sold them,” Mokora said.
She also argued that key witnesses in the matter were Masunda’s friends and chances for him interfering with them were high.
