MDC-T MPs yesterday accused State broadcaster Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation’s (ZBC) radio stations of deliberately leaving out most remote parts of the country to ensure the inhabitants remained “uninformed” for easy manipulation during election campaigns.

The accusation was made by Makoni South MP Pishayi Muchauraya while contributing to debate on a motion on the first report of the Portfolio Committee on Media, Information and Communication Technology on the state of the public media in Zimbabwe.

“It is not by accident that people are not receiving signals in these areas, but we all know that dictators thrive on people who do not have information and if people are starved of proper and accurate information, there is room to manipulate them,” Muchauraya said.

“Giving broadcasting licences to Zimpapers and AB Communications which are both cousins of the ZBC is just recycling so that they continue to churn out Zanu PF propaganda.
