A 14-year-old boy who sexually abused his 12-year-old sister on several occasions over the last two years has been referred to Northcott Reformatory in Mt Hampden outside Harare, for counselling and canning.

The teenager from Mabvuku was convicted for contravening section 70 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

The victim told the court last Friday her elder brother abused her from around 2010 before the matter came to light in December last year.

State counsel Vernancia Mutake told the court that on December 12 last year, the victim retired to bed with her younger sister before their brother sneaked into the bedroom and sexually abused her and later promised her to pay her two rand for keeping the matter under wraps.

However, their eldest brother stormed into the room and found the pair in a compromising position, forcing the lad to escape through the window.

The matter only came to light when the girl spilled the beans to her neighbours.
