Police have launched a hunt for a five-man gang which allegedly robbed a 43-year-old Norton man of various valuables before taking turns to rape his two daughters aged 18 and 21 near Morton Jaffray Water Works along the Harare-Bulawayo Road last Wednesday.

Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the robbery and rape which occurred at around 2am.

Mabgweazara said at around 11pm, the complainant’s Nissan PG720 ran out of fuel near Morton Jaffray Water Works and he parked by the roadside. He was in the company of his daughters.

Around 2am an unidentified unmarked car which had five occupants approached and stopped.

“The occupants produced knives and confronted the man and his daughters and robbed them of 400 pula, two blankets and three cellphones worth $300,” Mabgweazara said.

“As if it was not enough, the assailants force-marched the women into their vehicle and drove off towards Parklands Farm. The assailants parked the car at a secluded place before dragging the victims to a nearby bush where they raped them three times each.”

Following the heinous act, the gang sped off towards Harare. The matter was reported at Norton Police Station and investigations were in progress.
