Obama beat Republican Mitt Romney to win a second term after becoming the first US black leader in 2008.
Tsvangirai said in a brief statement: “The peace that prevailed during the elections is a lesson.”
University of Zimbabwe law lecturer Lovemore Madhuku said Zimbabwe and other African countries had a lot to learn from the US elections. “I think the most important thing is that this election was very close, but Romney painfully said we have lost, but accepted it,” he said. “An election contest is not a war, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.”
Another political analyst, Ibbo Mandaza, said the US presented a model worth emulating.
