THREE Counselling Services Unit (CSU) employees, who were arrested on Monday on allegations of painting MDC graffiti, were yesterday granted $100 bail each after the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) intervened to seek their freedom.

Tafadzwa Geza (36) of Mufakose, Zakaria Godi (45) of Washington Avenue, and Fedelis Mudimu (46) Mount Pleasant, Harare, were not asked to plead to the charges of malicious damage to property when they appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Learnmore Mapiye applying for bail.
The magistrate advised them to report at Bulawayo Central Police Station every Monday.
They were also ordered to surrender their passports.
The court heard that on October 7 at House Number 59/1858 Mpopoma, Bulawayo, the three defaced a perimeter wall by inscribing the acronym, “MDC” with a red spray paint and words MDC Ndizvo Chinja on the bill- board with the same paint.

On Monday, about 20 policemen armed with a search warrant raided CSU offices in Harare where they arrested the officials and confiscated some documents and a computer.
According to the search warrant, the police were searching for any material that “defaces any house, building, wall, fence, lamp post, gate, elevator without the consent of the owner or occupier thereof”, in contravention of Section 46 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
