CHILDREN’S Performing Arts Workshop (Chipawo) will on Saturday stage a show at the Zimbabwe College of Music as part of International Day of Prevention of Child Abuse celebrations.

The International Day of Prevention of Child Abuse was commemorated globally on Monday.

The concert, which kicks off at 9am, will feature perfomances that are based on this year’s theme for the day: “Protecting Children is Everybody’s Business”. There will be a number of performances from the Chipawo children coming from different centres in Harare, Bindura, Chitungwiza, Domboshava and Norton.

“This is a day on Chipawo calendar set aside to continue showing the importance of children’s rights and oppose any form of abuse,” read a statement from Chipawo.

“Chipawo children will be presenting their artistic works to increase awareness and education about child abuse and violence against children to promote respect for the rights of the child and to prevent child abuse.”
