THEMBELIHLE Nursing Home at Mpopoma in Bulawayo, which caters for People Living with HIV and Aids and Tuberculosis patients has reopened under new management, a year after it closed its doors due to lack of funding.

Ropafadzo Makuyana, one of the home’s directors told NewsDay on Monday the institution reopened early this month.
“We have reopened, but we do not have donors yet,” she said.
“We saw the way people lived in the community and if there is a place where they can get help, let them receive assistance.
“We are the old Thembelihle with new management.

“We are doing what they used to do, but now we are accepting every patient because we cannot send sick people away.
“We are a nursing home. We still concentrate mainly on chronic illnesses.”
Makuyana said the facility has 30 staff members and two doctors. She said they do not have maternity facilities as yet.
