DANCEHALL musician Sniper Storm (real name Donald Chirisa) has refunded Mashonaland Central music promoter Joseph Kufandiko after he failed to perform as per agreement.

This resulted in the promoter engaging the police to recover his money.

According to Kufandiko, Sniper at first paid $600 last week and settled the balance on Monday.

“Initially, he came and agreed to pay, but he brought half of the money of which the police declined to withdraw charges before he paid the full amount,” said Kufandiko.

“He has, however, paid up and we are back on level terms.” Kufandiko said the promoters’ relationship with the musician has normalised and they would soon re-engage him for another gig before the end of the year.

Sniper was supposed to pay back $1 035 performance fees and poster expenses.

His manager Robert Bhamu declined to comment on the matter. “We agreed on certain things of which one of them is that we would not go to the Press,” said Bhamu.

“The other problem we had at the meeting was that there were certain things that each party said to the media which were never supposed to be exposed.

“I am really sorry, I cannot talk to you about that issue.” Bhamu said if Kufandiko had commented, he had actually breached their pact.

Double bookings and no shows are a common phenomenon in Zimbabwean art.

The two have often been cited as results of lack of organisation and greedy.
