A HUMAN resources manager with a local transport company, Western Transport, allegedly swindled his employer of more than $24 000 after he created a ghost worker and channelled the alleged worker’s monthly salaries into his personal account for 21 months.

REPORT BY RICHARD MUPONDE SENIOR COURT REPORTER

Tommy Ndlovu (45) was granted $300 bail and remanded to January 11 for 21 counts of fraud yesterday.

Public prosecutor Mazwi Goto told the court that Ndlovu’s duties, among others, were to formulate a payroll of all the workers employed at the company.

After formulating the payroll, he would send it to the financial director for approval and payment of the workers.

The State alleged that between April 29 2011 and December 19 last year, Ndlovu withdrew a total of $24 351 39 from the company coffers using the fictitious employee’s name.
