Sunday World can today reveal that the 21-year-old has been nominated for a Metro FM Award for her album The Conquering Spirit.

The official list of nominations will be released on Thursday for the February 23 event being staged in Durban.

While her debut album was released in March last year, most South Africans started noticing Berita’s talent following radio airplay in the second half of last year.

Her hit song Thandolwethu enjoyed massive airplay during the festive season and her nomination for the award is the cherry on top.

While Berita is not sure what category she has been nominated for, she is nonetheless ecstatic about the achievement. “It still hasn’t sunk in that I’m nominated.

“I’m anxious and nervous at the same time.

“I know God loves me and has beautiful things in store for me. I am wondering what favour has come my way.

“All I know is that this opportunity comes with changes. It’s a recognition.

“But I can’t celebrate until I get to find out what’s really cooking,” she says.
