CHINHOYI — The trial of businessman-cum-politician Temba Peter Mliswa (41) and nine co-accused persons arrested last week and charged with public violence failed to commence at the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Courts yesterday.

This was after the defence filed an application to have the matter moved to the Harare Magistrates’ Court, arguing there was likelihood the accused would not get a fair trial in Chinhoyi.
Presiding magistrate Felix Mawadze remanded the matter to today for the State to oppose or consent to the request for change of jurisdiction.
Two more persons have since been arrested over the alleged fracas and were among those in the dock yesterday.
Allegations against the accused persons are that on February 22 at Zimonja business centre, Zvipani, Hurungwe West, they ganged-up with four others who are still at large and attacked injuring Hurungwe East Member of Parliament Sarah Mahoka, who is also Zanu PF Women’s League provincial chairperson for Mashonaland West, and her entourage for “trespassing”.
