THE four staffers from Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s office arrested on charges of impersonating police are yet to be allocated a trial date after the State prosecutor Michael Mugabe failed to appear in court yesterday.

The trial, which was initially scheduled for Wednesday, was again postponed to Monday next week.

Warship Dumba, Thabani Mpofu, Felix Matsinde and Mehluli Tshuma were arrested last month for allegedly possessing classified documents for criminal use. Their lawyer Alec Muchadehama confirmed deferment of the case, saying: “It was postponed to the 8th (of April) because the prosecutor (Michael Mugabe) who was supposed to argue the matter was unavailable.”

The four were arrested together with human rights lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa for allegedly attempting to stop their arrest. Mtetwa’s trial date was also postponed to next Monday.
