BINDURA area prosecutor Emmanuel Muchenga has died.

Report by Senior Reporter

Muchenga died on Wednesday night due to hypertension and was buried in his rural home in Msengezi yesterday.

Although no comment could be obtained from the Attorney-General’s Office, a senior magistrate who declined to be named confirmed Muchenga’s death saying: “Indeed, Bindura area prosecutor Emmanuel Muchenga has died of hypertension. We are currently at his burial as I speak.”

Muchenga will be remembered for prosecuting high profile cases, including that of Bindura mayor Ivory Matanhire (MDC-T), who was jailed for eight months for corruption involving $460.

The late prosecutor also represented the State in the December 2012 trial of Energy and Power Development minister Elton Mangoma after he had allegedly undermined the authority of President Robert Mugabe.
