A Blakfordby Grade Five pupil Tawanda Dhibhura (11), son of sungura musician Stephen Dhibhura, is soon to release a debut album titled Yanano.

The gospel album consists of six praise songs, including one of his favourite Vechidiki KuNashe.

“I used to see my father playing the guitar and whenever I tried playing it, he would refuse. I then started going to a friend’s house where I would play the guitar until my friend’s father told my dad how good I was on the guitar,” Tawanda said.

“I just decided to sing this type of music because that is what I like. I can also dance.”

His father Stephen admitted that at first he wanted to stop the boy from singing fearing that it would affect his academic life, but he was surprised to see the boy playing the guitar so well.

Dhibhura said the boy has a promising career and paid tribute Jah Prayzah, Sulu and Tryson Chimbetu who sometimes share the stage with him.

He added that the boy is also academically gifted and participates in sporting activities.
