PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe yesterday appointed two more judges to the Supreme Court bench, bringing the total to nine.

The appointees — Justices Bharat Patel and Ben Hlatshwayo — were sworn in at a ceremony held at State House soon after the signing of the new constitution.

Justice and Legal Affairs minister Patrick Chinamasa, Attorney-General Johannes Tomana, Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku and other top government officials attended the function.

The appointment of two more Supreme Court judges is in line with the new constitution which extended the Supreme Court bench from seven to nine judges. –
