Zvemarenge was mainly a cultural homestead, but now will host various activities that will remind people of their original African roots and now rebranded to offer cultural activities.

“The cultural resort has been further heightened and strengthened,” Zvemarenge executive director Tendai Cambalame said.

He said as a commitment to cultural heritage had seen it fit to build cultural huts of various tribes as a way of showcasing African culture.

Cambalame added that their site museum was well equipped with various cultural utensils to make student understand culture better.

“People will view various cultural artifacts including old huts and utensils that were used by our ancestors and some of the various huts would include the duri, hukwe, makate, nhanga, gota, dare and banya, which would  complete the original African home set up,” he said.

The versatile and prolific multimedia artist said another new initiative would be the Pamuzhanje theatre platform which would give students a platform for a fresh taste of poetry, storytelling and traditional dances amongst others.

He said they would also avail a restaurant where strictly traditional foods would be served and also teach students on how to prepare the dishes.

“The culture lesson is further dissected in our school of culture (a traditional chief’s court set up) sessions where we touch on various aspects of culture,” added Cambalame.
