DANCEHALL music lovers can brace themselves for a night of fun as various local dancehall artistes take part in a music clash during the World Boxing Union (WBU) Championship tournament on November 2 at City Sports Centre.

Local entertainment company Chipaz Promotions has teamed up with Delta Force Sports Trust to bring music entertainment to the event that would see local boxer, Tapiwa Tembo, fighting Gibon Kamota from Zambia for the 12-round WBU Championship belt.
Dancehall artistes such as Temple Man, Sniper Storm, Guspy Warrior, Freeman, Shinsoman, Dadza D and Killah T will take turns to clash each other in the dancehall music ring.
“As Chipaz promotions, we are there to promote any form of entertainment. So, we came up with this musical clash as a way of promoting boxing as a form of entertainment,” Patson Chimbodza of Chipaz promotions said.
He said boxing had lost popularity over the past years and this collaborative effort would uplift both boxing and music in a positive way.

Chimbodza said they had seen it best to bring dancehall musicians alone because the venue could not accommodate other artistes with full bands and instruments.
“We want these artistes to perform in a competitive way so they will clash in the boxing ring. The only difference is that music would be for purely entertainment purposes not competition,” he said.
Popular dancehall artiste Sniper Storm said he was impressed with the initiative of boosting the local boxing fan base through combining the event with dancehall clashes. He said the dancehall artistes were ready to have their own musical bouts in the ring.
Temple Man echoed Sniper Storm’s sentiments.
“The main reason I’m taking part is to make sure it remains a lyrical and musical confrontation between the artistes and nothing personal. It’s all about who will rise to the occasion in the most peaceful way. Obviously, fans will be shouting in support of their favourite artistes,” Temple Man aka The Godfather said.
