HARARE magistrate Elijah Makomo will today pass the ruling on Big Brother Africa star Wendall Parson and his brother William’s application for discharge after the State yesterday filed its response to the pair’s application.

Although prosecutor Constance Ngombengombe was supposed to file her response on October 28 and in response defense counsel Harrison Nkomo’s application filed on October 22, she only did so yesterday.
Makomo said since Ngombengombe’s submissions were lengthy, he was not able to go through them yesterday. Nkomo applied for discharge after telling the court that the State had “miserably failed to prove a prima facie case against the accused persons”.
This was after the State had closed its case. Allegations against the Wendall brothers are that on March 16 this year, William was involved in an accident while driving Wendall’s Ford Ranger. The accident was reported at Borrowdale Police Station and it is alleged that on the day the accident occurred, Wendall’s vehicle was not insured.
Afterwards, it is alleged that Wendall connived with his brother and hatched a plan to defraud Alliance Insurance. On March 18, William allegedly went to the insurance brokers where he applied for insurance for the Ford Ranger together with two other trailers.
