AFTER missing out at the recently held National Arts Merit Awards (Nama), afro-jazz sensation Pah Chihera last Saturday got solace by bagging the first Pachedu Awards held at Imba Lodge in Mt Pleasant.

Organised by United Kingdom-based ZimOnline Radio, the awards also honoured Jah Prayzah, Sanii Makhalima and little known producer DJ Tamuka.
A similar event was also held in the United Kingdom where Zimbabwean artistes based in that country where honoured.
Jah Prayzah, the Tsviriyo singer, received the Music Artist of the Year Award, while Makhalima received the Hit Song of the Year award for his Kubhaguja tune.
Pah Chihera’s Runonzi Rudo video earned her the Best Music Video of the Year award, while DJ Tamuka received the Remix Track of The Year award for Sulumani Chiimbetu featuring Jah Prayzah’s Sean Timba remix.

An elated Makhalima told NewsDay he was happy that his music was being appreciated internationally.
“This is a positive stride for my music to be appreciated both locally and internationally. My single track Kana Ndada which came second on Power FM’s top 100 is currently making it big on the international platform,” Makhalima said.
“I am grateful to my family and fans for their unwavering support, without them I could not make it.”
The song features Yoz and producer Lazzie T.
Pah Chihera shared similar sentiments with Makhalima.
“I dedicate this award to my fans who make me great and I am promising them more tunes this year,” she said.
Jah Prayzah’s award was collected by his younger brother Nigel since the musician was entertaining guests at Bona Mugabe and Simba Chikore’s wedding in Borrowdale on the night.
