TELECEL Zimbabwe has launched a pre-paid service that reduces tariffs by 50% to cushion its consumers from the current economic challenges, a senior company official said.

BY BUSINESS REPORTER

The service, Telecel Go, will charge tariffs ranging from 9 cents to 19 cents, which are below the regulated tariffs.

Speaking at the sidelines of the launch last week, Telecel chief commercial officer Ashraf Elguindy said the service was launched after the company carried out a big exercise of looking at customer needs.

“There are lots of barriers and customer needs are not reflected in tariffs. We are launching a new product Telecel Go that will reduce tariffs for customers and enable them to choose,” he said. “We are the first operator to reduce rates by 50% as we are looking at the changes in the economy.”

Elguindy said the current tariffs of networks are at 25 cents to 23cents.
