A FORMER bursar at Karoi Junior School, Kevin Tafara Gombingo, was on Saturday granted $100 bail after he appeared before magistrate Nyaradzo Ringisayi on a fraud charge involving $33 621.

The State consented to bail after the school committee and Gombingo agreed on a repayment plan which would start next month and run until June next year.
The parties agreed that Gombingo (24), represented by lawyer Samuel Muyemeki of Mapaya and Associates, should wait for an auditors’ report to verify the actual amount involved.
As part of the deal, Gombingo surrendered title deeds of his two houses in Karoi and Chegutu as surety.
It is the State case that sometime between May 2013 and last November, Gombingo stole six financial receipt books from the school and used them to embezzle the money.

The books were later recovered from him during the handover of the books of accounts to the new bursar.
Gombingo will appear in court again on January 30 this year.
