Junior Promise Sithole pleaded guilty to the charge and will be sentenced today.

Sithole told the court that he obtained the syrup from a South Africa-based Nigerian colleague.

The court heard that on February 3 this year, detectives received a tip-off to the effect that Sithole was dealing in illicit drugs.

Acting on that tip-off, police detectives pounced on him and recovered 162 by 100 millilitres of the cough syrup stashed in two satchels.
