APOLOGY — President Robert Mugabe chaired his ninth Cabinet meeting yesterday contrary to our report on Tuesday imputing that Cabinet had skipped several meetings as a result of Mugabe’s foreign travels.

Alpha Media Holdings Editor-in-Chief Vincent Kahiya and NewsDay Acting Editor Wisdom Mdzungairi last night met with Information, Media and Broadcasting Services minister Jonathan Moyo who set the record straight on the issue of Cabinet meetings.

Moyo provided a schedule showing that Cabinet had met nine times (including yesterday) since Mugabe’s return from leave in January. Mugabe chairs Cabinet meetings, which are traditionally held on Tuesdays.

Three meetings of the nine meetings have been held on Thursday, Monday and yesterday.

According to Moyo, Cabinet met on February 10, 17 and 24.

The schedule also stated that Mugabe chaired Cabinet on March 3, 10, 17 and 23.
