Three hundred and fifty women, above the age of 60, were on Saturday surprised with food hampers and blankets valued at $27 500 from United Family International Church (Ufic) Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa during the church’s Mother’s Day celebrations at the City Sports Centre.

Women members were asked to attend the special service with their mothers and mothers-in-law so they could honour them by giving them presents to mark the day. Some mothers shed tears when they were presented with gifts as big as refrigerators by their daughters.

The day was set aside for the women church members to thank their parents for bringing them into this world and for the roles they have played in their lives.
