Online Reporter The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) has deployed an election observer mission to Zambia as the country prepares for general elections to be held on the 12th of August 2021.

In a statement, Comesa said the deployment fulfils its mandate of contributing to the democratic process in Zambia.

“The Mission will be led by members of the Comesa Committee of Elders, Ambassador Ashraf Gamal of Egypt with the assistance of Madam Hope Kivengere of Uganda.”

“The Comesa election observer team will be deployed to the field after going through a training programme on the Comesa Election Observer Principles and Methodology. The Mission will cover all the 10 provinces of Zambia,” read the statement.

Comesa said the observer team will consult various stakeholders and political parties to exchange views.
