HARARE, Apr. 23 (NewsDay) - MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora says his party has filed a court application challenging a police decision to block a planned demonstration against Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3.

Mwonzora told NewsDay that the party had approached the courts after police prohibited the protest, which was intended to oppose the constitutional amendments currently before Parliament.

He said the ban violated citizens’ constitutional rights to freedom of assembly and expression.

The MDC-T is among opposition parties resisting the proposed changes, arguing that they undermine democratic principles and constitutionalism.
