MCZ secretary for education and academic Reverend Daniel Muzenda attributed the high pass rate to a cocktail of efforts by stakeholders.
“We are happy with the refreshing pass rate at Waddilove High School and other MCZ learning institutions,” Muzenda said.
“We attribute the success to both the teaching and non-teaching staff who are working tirelessly for the betterment of the learners.
“We also hail the parents and guardians who are paying their school fees timeously enabling school authorities to secure provisions for the learners without any hustle.
"The church has been playing a role in incentivising the teachers so that we produce quality results. We also thank Glow Petroleum, our partner, for also incentivising high performing teachers.
“We will make sure that we maintain such academic excellence at Waddilove High School and all the other MCZ schools across the country.”
Waddilove High School attributed its academic success to dedicated teaching staff and other stakeholders while hailing the school’s recent installation of a 300kW solar power plant to ensure consistent studying by learners due to availability of power.
The school is also credited for having a top drawer library facility in the province.
The learning institution also boasts a vibrant school choir that always scoops accolades in NASH and MCZ church competitions and the robust school band — The Soldiers of Heaven — that always rock airwaves on national radio stations.
The school choir grabbed first position in the Traditional Percussion and Premier category, respectively, in 2025 Connexional Music competitions held in Gweru.
In sporting activities, the schools athletics, darts, soccer, chess and handball teams all reached national finals in 2025.

Established in 1915, some of the luminaries that came out of the school are veteran nationalists such as the late astute lawyer and politician Eddison Zvobgo, first Chief Justice in independent Zimbabwe EnockDumbutshena, Advocate Pearson Nherera, former Finance minister Herbert Murerwa, former Defence minister Sydney Sekeramayi, former warriors coach Charles Mhlauri and the esteemed prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa.
Another luminary is the former MCZ presiding bishop, Reverend GT Mawire, who is now the incumbent principal at Waddilove High School.
The school started as a training institute established by the Methodist Missionary John White in January 1891 and it was called Nenguwo.
Its objectives were to give the students biblical and theological knowledge to make them fit to be preachers.
Later in 1915, the missionaries decided to expand the institution by making a boarding school.
Sir Joshua K Wadd, an English missionary and philanthropist visited Reverend John White and decided to assist the school, after which he donated money for infrastructural development.
In his honour, the school was renamed Waddilove — as it was because of the love of Wadd that gave birth to the school-an MCZ institution.
MCZ has other competitive schools in the country and some of them are Sandringham, Tekwane, Moleli, Pakame, Chemhanza and Kwenda.
