Zimbabwe is among 24 southern African countries which have dropped on the ladder of peace and security amidst concerns of growing internal strife and political clampdown by government on opponents.
Trust Mamombe, the director of the Institution for Economic Peace an organization which ranks countries on peace and security while Speaking on Heart and Soul TV panel discussion on the 2020 Global Peace Index, said Zimbabwe had dropped.
Mamombe said to keep peace people had to make effort
“Peace is a product of investment, we will never wake up one morning with peace or violence… we are becoming less peaceful,” said Mamombe.

In the context of conflict that has ravaged the country over the years starting with Gukurahundi, National Peace and Reconciliation Commissioner Choice Ndoro said it was important to understand Zimbabwe’s history because it was important in mapping the future.
” The understanding of conflict background in Zimbabwe is important. The commission had to be informed by these historical narratives and then you realise that whatever happened before independence continues to happen after independence,” Ndoro.
On peace building, Eunice Bere, a lecturer at Africa University said the college now has a program to foster peace building and understanding.
“Issues of conflicts and contextual are very relevant and we need to address them,” she said.
Canadian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Rene Cremonese, who was part of the panel discussion also
“Peace like many concepts is one thing we all seem to understand in our hearts and what it means, but we also turn to think in different ways in advance of war or conflict,” Cremonese added
