BY STAFF REPORTER Chegutu West MP Dexter Nduna (Zanu PF) became the second ruling party legislator to be arrested in less than a week after he was nabbed on charges of contravening the Land Act.

Nduna was arrested on Wednesday night and spent the night in police cells awaiting court appearance yesterday.

Reports in June said Nduna ordered scores of people to occupy Risboro Farm measuring 1176 hectares which had allegedly been designated for urban development.

The Local Government ministry released the farm to Chegutu municipality and Chegutu Rural District Council (RDC) for urban growth.

A joint management committee comprising the two councils was later established through Statutory Instrument 83 of 2022.

Government said the expansion of Chegutu urban and its surrounding RDC was in line with its National Development Strategy 1.

After the invasion, the joint management committee warned the invaders that they risked prosecution.

Last week, Zanu PF Gokwe-Nembudziya legislator Justice Mayor Wadyajena was arrested on charges of fraud and money-laundering involving US$5,8 million.

He was granted $200 000 bail alongside his co-accused  Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (Cottco) managing director Pious Manamike, marketing manager Maxmore Njanji, Fortunate Molai also of Cottco, Chiedza Danha and director for Pierpont Moncroix Mauritius.
