Chivi Central MP and Parliamentary Portfolio Committee Chairperson on Security, Home Affairs and Defence, Exevia Moses Maoneke, has graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Defence and Security Studies from the Zimbabwe National Defence University (ZNDU).
The latest academic achievement adds to Maoneke's growing list of qualifications.
He already holds Master's degrees in International Relations and Business Administration from the University of Zimbabwe, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the Chinhoyi University of Technology, where his research focuses on developing a framework for a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem in Zimbabwe.
Widely known as "Wezhaz" in business circles, Maoneke built his reputation through Executive Car Sales and commodity broking. Beyond business, he has remained actively involved in arts promotion, business mentorship and economic development initiatives.
He is the founding vice-chairperson of the Zimbabwe Network for Economic and Social Transformation and has served in various leadership roles in both the public and private sectors.
Speaking after the graduation ceremony, Maoneke said the new qualification would strengthen his contribution in Parliament, particularly in his oversight role on security and defence matters.
"This qualification equips me with deeper knowledge and strategic insights that will enhance my work as Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Security, Home Affairs and Defence. It is an honour to continue advancing my education in line with His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa's call for continuous learning and skills development as Zimbabwe works towards achieving an upper-middle-income economy by 2030," he said.
He said lifelong learning was essential for leaders seeking to deliver effective policies and governance.
"Education is a lifelong journey. As leaders, we must continually equip ourselves with the knowledge and expertise needed to respond to emerging national and global challenges. I remain committed to applying what I have learnt to strengthen national security, promote economic transformation and contribute to sustainable development," Maoneke said.
His PhD research at the Chinhoyi University of Technology seeks to develop a framework for building a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem capable of driving innovation, enterprise development and long-term economic growth in Zimbabwe.
