Musician, composer and cultural curator Taffie Mataure (pictured below) has found a new creative base at Londoners Bar in the usually quiet Strathaven suburb of Harare, where he is now set to perform once every month.

The gifted afro-fusion artiste, known for his mastery of mbira, marimba and guitar, says the residency marks a significant step in his artistic journey.

“Beyond my career highs locally and internationally, I’m excited to have a guaranteed monthly slot at Londoners,” Mataure told The Standard Style. “I’m getting a lot of love and feedback, and it’s all pointing towards growth as I continue unlocking new ideas.”

Mataure’s work blends traditional African heritage with contemporary global influences, anchored in storytelling, identity and cultural exchange.

“I don’t treat music as separate from life,” he said. “My artistry goes beyond performance into immersive cultural experiences that connect sound, fashion and education.”

He views the Londoners residency as more than a regular booking.

“It shows I’ve found a space where my vision can grow month after month,” he said.

The artiste believes he has reached a new level of maturity, bringing greater control and intention to his performances.

“My music remains rooted in Zimbabwean heritage, especially mbira, but there’s a new steadiness in how I hold the room,” he said. “I communicate through originality and pride, and audiences can feel that.”
