Rapper Blacperl (pictured) has entered the beauty industry with the launch of Chiedza Organics, a natural skincare brand that blends African tradition with modern formulation.

The brand’s name, which means “light”, reflects its core mission: restoring a natural, healthy glow through plant-based ingredients. The name also holds personal significance, as it is borrowed from the rapper's real name, Chiedza Maswera.

Chiedza Organics specialises in targeted solutions for acne, dark marks, and hyperpigmentation. According to Blacperl, the brand is designed to gently clear breakouts and fade discoloration to reveal more even-toned skin.

“All products are handcrafted with organic, ethically sourced ingredients and are free from harsh chemicals," Blacperl explained.

“From cleansing bars to radiance creams, we offer simple, effective skincare that honors the wisdom of our grandmothers while meeting the needs of today’s skin.”

Blacperl’s journey into cosmetics was inspired by her upbringing. She recalls watching her mother and grandmother grind herbs and blend natural oils — not as a trend, but as a lifestyle.

"The simple, natural remedies kept their skin healthy and glowing," she said.

"Later, when I struggled with my own skin—acne and stubborn dark marks—I turned to those same remedies. The results were undeniable."

Observing others struggle with harsh commercial products that often worsened their skin issues, Blacperl saw an opportunity to help.

"I realised the knowledge passed down to me could help others if it were accessible and easy to use. I wanted to bridge the gap between traditional African skincare wisdom and modern-day convenience."

Fans of her music need not worry; Blacperl isn't leaving the booth for the lab. She recently completed work on a new EP and found that her business venture actually fueled her creativity.

"I was working on an EP that I recently finished," she said.

"In between studio sessions, I focused on this cosmetic journey. Seeing this 'baby' take flight has inspired me to make even more music."
