The high-stakes legal battle between legendary Lion King composer Lebo M and Zimbabwean stand-up sensation Learnmore Jonasi (pictured) may be heading for a quiet resolution rather than a courtroom showdown.
In a surprising turn of events, Lebo M has reportedly initiated dialogue with the comedian to explore a structured settlement.
Acting on direct instructions from Lebo M, his legal and management teams have reached out to Jonasi — who is currently mid-tour — to find a “measured and dignified” way forward.
This shift follows the appointment of an independent intermediary tasked with bridging the gap between the two parties.
“Lebo M confirms he has instructed his team to reach out to Learnmore while he is currently on tour, in an effort to find common ground and bring this matter to a constructive close,” stated Tshepo Mboni, spokesperson for Lebo M.
The dispute stems from a massive US$27 million lawsuit filed by the Grammy-winning composer against Jonasi.
The legal action centres on alleged intellectual property (IP) infringements related to Jonasi’s comedic performances and promotional content.
