Leadership from Mozambique’s ruling party, Frelimo, in Magoe District recently met Zimbabwean traditional healer Sekuru Nyangatayani during his visit to the neighbouring country.

Sekuru Nyangatayani, who was on holiday in Mozambique, held a meeting with legislator Abudul Carlos Momade and councillor Neto Guidionr Faife.

During the meeting, the Frelimo leadership invited the Zimbabwean spiritual leader to attend Mozambique’s Independence Day celebrations set for June 25 in Magoe District.

While in Mozambique, Sekuru Nyangatayani also visited Radio Magoe, where presenters Por Ndoliro and Costa Marcelino hosted him for an interview. During the programme, he spoke about Zimbabwe and the longstanding friendship between the two neighbouring countries.

Speaking after the visit, Sekuru Nyangatayani said he felt honoured by the warm reception he received from the Mozambican people.

“I was very happy to be in Mozambique where I met the Frelimo leadership who invited me for their Independence Day celebrations. As usual, I will attend,” he said.

He added that the visit provided an opportunity to interact with local people and celebrate shared cultural ties.

“The people of Mozambique are very welcoming. We met several people and shared traditional African brew as we interacted,” he said.

Meanwhile, last year Sekuru Nyangatayani attended Mozambique’s Independence Day celebrations accompanied by several Zimbabwean artistes, where he reportedly received a warm welcome from local communities.
