A linguistics lecturer, Esther Tafadzwa Mafunda, has stepped into the literary spotlight with the launch of her maiden novel titled The Sacred Limp at a colourful event held in Harare.

Mafunda wrote the book under the evocative pseudonym Hope Tsindi, marking her formal entry into Zimbabwe’s creative writing space.

The launch drew writers, academics and literature enthusiasts who gathered to celebrate what has been described as a powerful new voice in contemporary fiction.

Renowned poet and playwright Chirikure Chirikure was the guest speaker at the event and praised the novel for its emotional depth and lyrical storytelling.

The Sacred Limp is a haunting and lyrical debut that traces the fierce and aching journey of a woman reclaiming her life from the ruins of a love once promised as sanctuary.

With this debut, Mafunda signals the arrival of a compelling literary voice whose work promises to enrich Zimbabwe’s evolving literary landscape.
