My Dear People,
Yesterday, this glorious country supposedly commemorated 46 years of independence.
I use the term loosely, of course, because while we allegedly shook off the colonial shackles in 1980, the so-called freedom that was supposed to follow has been nothing but a shimmering, cruel mirage.
We have traded one set of chains for a designer scarf, and the result is a second repubric that specialises in a dispensation of poverty, darkness, and utter confusion.
My dear Zimbabweans, is it not the height of irony? While the regime led grand commemorations of our escape from bondage, they were working flat out behind the scenes to ensure you never have to worry about the burden of voting for a leader again.
Why bother with a ballot when the Scarfmore regime is busy desecrating the 2013 constitution—a document overwhelmingly supported by the people—just to serve the self-serving interests of an octogenarian?
They are desperate to extend the vapid leadership of the Scarfed One well beyond the constitutional limit of 2028.
It seems the plan is to ensure that independence means being independent of choice, independent of rights, and independent of a future.
At a time when we should be celebrating, our citizens are instead being threatened, beaten, and abducted simply for having the audacity to speak out against this scandalous pillaging of our supreme law.
The regime’s paranoia has reached such heights that people are being arrested for the revolutionary crime of gathering for a private function at their own residence.
The weaponisation of the law has made a mockery of our history.
How can we toast to freedom when Job Sikhala can be detained for nearly 600 days without trial, while a convicted gold smuggler—someone committing a truly serious crime against the state—merely pays a fine and walks free? Truly, the scales of justice in this country are balanced only by the weight of gold bars in the right pockets.
Even the very halls of power have been infested by this rot. We watch in horror as parliamentarians and councilors, legitimately voted for by the citizens, are booted out by unelected charlatans with the help of the state.
They are replaced by hand-picked stooges and puppets whose only purpose is to nod rhythmically whenever the Scarfed One speaks.
And let’s talk about the state of our liberated infrastructure. It is absolutely laughable—if it weren't so tragic—to watch people celebrate independence while queuing at presidential boreholes.
In this day and age, clean piped water is a luxury the regime can't provide, but they’ll give you a hole in the ground and call it progress.
Our public hospitals have been transformed into death traps. We have health workers forced to attend to the dying in the dark because of constant power outages, lacking even the most basic medicines.
But don’t worry, the regime has a plan for the health sector, and it’s a stroke of genius if your goal is total collapse.
Their latest brain fade involves barring medical aid societies from owning or operating health facilities.
They want these societies to submit divestiture plans within six months and dispose of all assets within 36 months.
This callous move could render 10 000 people jobless, adding to the mountain of unemployed victims of their scorched-earth policies.
It’s a scheme clearly designed to fatten the pockets of certain zigananda who want to exploit the poor through hideous alternatives.
The desperation to appear popular has reached comic depths.
The Health Apex Panel was recently "bewildered and confused" by claims that 62000 of its members had signed a petition supporting the destruction of the constitution to keep Scarfmore in power.
Our doctors and nurses didn't realise they were so enthusiastic about extending their own misery!
Trying to sell this leader as a popular choice for an extension past 2028 is like asking turkeys to vote for Christmas. It simply won't work.
Even the war veterans, the very people who fought for this liberation, are now bemoaning how they have been reduced to paupers.
Some have even been arrested for the crime of demonstrating against their own poverty.
When there is a serious public debate about whether the brutal Ian Smith regime was better than this current second repubric," you know the level of disenchantment has hit rock bottom.
I’m sure many of you who cheered for the tanks and guns that removed my telescopically foresighted Gushungo are now feeling the cold sting of regret.
At least back then, the madness had a certain... style. Now, we just have a scarf, a dry tap, and a fake petition.
Independence Day has lost its lustre; it has become a day that, for many, has lost its relevance.
My people, the second repubric outdid itself with that hideous caricature of Father Zimbabwe in Maphisa.
Calling that monstrosity a tribute for our 46th Independence is a national disgrace and a direct insult to the legacy of Joshua Nkomo.
Our heroes deserve reverence, not this embarrassing mockery that devalues the liberation struggle.
After wasting taxpayer money, the statue has finally been removed. Taking it down surreptitiously cannot hide the shame of such a failed monument.
Zimbabweans deserve respect for their history
