Since 2014, Dynamos have known no joy in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League despite their too many coaching experiments.
Their worst came in 2025 when an experiment with Lloyd Chigowe and later on Saul Chaminuka nearly led them to Division One until they were saved from relegation by Kelvin Kaindu.
Now Dynamos have Genesis Mangombe in the dugout but already there are calls for his sacking with his sin being that he has failed with a team that Kaindu succeeded with in 2025.
The callers want Mangombe to be replaced by Hebert 'Jompano' Maruwa. What is interesting is that Mangombe replaced Maruwa when Jompano was fired by the same club in 2023.
Surely, the look of things at Dembare are that there will never be a time in this era when Dynamos will have one coach in one season.
What is interesting with the continuous coaching changes at Dynamos is that the coaches they have rejected have gone on to achieve success with other clubs within months.
Take for example, Tonderai Ndiraya ? Ndiraya's contract was not renewed on grounds of poor performance in 2022 but went on to win the league title with Simba Bhora in 2024.
That is not all. The same Ndiraya that the builder rejected also went on to win another Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title this time with Scottland in 2025.
That is not the end of it. There is also the case of Genesis Mangombe. He was sacked by Dynamos in 2024 but went on to 'win' the Northern Region first division title with Scottland the same.
The question is : Have all these coaches not been good enough to last a season at Dynamos or that short cuts are killing the team ?
The same short cuts that saw Dynamos employ a cheap-to-pay
Saul Chaminuka as a replacement for another cheap-to-pay Lloyd Chigowe - an ad-hoc type of coaching appointment.
Surely, it would be dishonest to ignore the connection between this confusion and the pressure from the team's fans.
Right now. Mangombe has a contract that is clear that he should win the Chibuku Super Cup and finish in the top eight to guarantee his stay in the job.
Why then ask him to leave only 12 games into the season ?
The fact remains that football fans do matter but they cannot be allowed to dictate who coaches Dynamos because that is where the problem is.
Most of the Dynamos coaches have been fired because of pressure from fans and apart from Chaminuka most of them have also been employed because of that voice.
What happens at Dynamos does not happen anywhere else in the Premiership even at Highlanders - the only other team with a crowd in the country.
Previous Dynamos leaderships fell prey to this and now it is up to Vincent Chawonza to resist the pressure from these fans even if he becomes unpopular.
After all, him and his executive do not report to the fans but to the only one man who appointed them - that is Bernard Marriott Lusengo
