Entrepreneur and infrastructure developer Tinashe Changweya has been awarded the prestigious Leadership in Projects Award by the Chartered Institute of Project Managers Zimbabwe (CIPMZ) in recognition of his exceptional management of multiple large-scale infrastructure development projects across Zimbabwe.

The award was presented during a high-level ceremony attended by government officials, business leaders, and industry stakeholders, with Jenfan Muswere serving as the Guest of Honour.

Changweya, the Founder and CEO of Fumati Group, was honoured for demonstrating remarkable leadership, project execution capability, and operational excellence through the rapid growth of his engineering and infrastructure empire, particularly under Fumati Engineers.

CIPMZ recognised Changweya for successfully managing complex multi-million-dollar developments spanning stadiums, shopping malls, industrial warehouses, residential flats, schools, and specialised engineering projects, positioning his company among Zimbabwe’s fast-rising infrastructure firms.

Judges commended his ability to coordinate large teams, manage technical engineering processes, oversee timelines, and deliver modern infrastructure solutions that are contributing to Zimbabwe’s urban and industrial transformation.

Among the flagship projects highlighted during the awards ceremony was the transformation of the Heart Stadium into a modern 5,000-seater facility featuring upgraded terraces, renovated changing rooms, advanced drainage systems, and conference facilities now certified for Premier Soccer League matches.

Changweya was also recognised for his instrumental role in the ambitious US$30 million Mabvuku Number One Stadium project for Scottland FC, which is expected to become a CAF-certified 15,000 to 20,000-seater sports facility upon completion.

The awards committee further noted his involvement in the development of Ngoni Stadium in Norton, major shopping malls in Harare including the CrossOver Mall along Julius Nyerere Way, high-rise residential flats, modern educational facilities, and industrial warehouses.

CIPMZ described Changweya as a “results-driven infrastructure leader” whose project management capabilities have enabled Fumati Group to expand from humble beginnings into a diversified company with interests in engineering, food processing, architecture, and poultry production.

The institute also applauded his investment in engineering infrastructure, including the establishment of a large engineering workshop in Waterfalls and the acquisition of heavy-duty equipment to support large-scale developments with a regional outlook.

Changweya’s rise has attracted significant national recognition in recent years. In 2025, he was named “Best in Zimbabwe” at the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network Awards and also received the Outstanding Businessman of the Year Silver Award at the Megafest Business Awards Northern Region.

Speaking after receiving the accolade, Changweya dedicated the award to his team and praised young Zimbabwean entrepreneurs for pushing boundaries in infrastructure development.

“This recognition reflects the hard work, innovation, and commitment of our entire team. We believe Zimbabwean companies have the capacity to deliver world-class infrastructure and contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said.

His recognition by CIPMZ further cements his growing reputation as one of Zimbabwe’s emerging industrial leaders driving infrastructure transformation through engineering excellence, strategic execution, and visionary project leadership.
