Following his admission about being dissatisfied at Manchester United over the past few years, two surprise Premier League teams are now reportedly eyeing a move for Paul Pogba
Pogba recently gave an honest view of his time at Old Trafford while on international duty with France, admitting that “the last five seasons have not satisfied me — really not at all … Whether it is with Manchester United or at another club, I want to win trophies”.
With the Frenchman out of contract in June, his latest revelation has now hinted at an exit, with the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain said to be favourites to land his services next season.
The midfielder revealed during an interview with Le Figaro that he is open to joining the latter as he would appreciate playing alongside some of his compatriots at club level.
While interest from Europe’s elite remains, two unexpected English top-flight sides are monitoring the situation in the hopes of luring the 29-year-old to their club.
According to The Sun, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are now eyeing a move for the playmaker.
The Villans have shown their ambition in the transfer market since the arrival of Steven Gerrard in their dugout, having signed the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Digne, and Calum Chambers in January, although the former only arrived on loan from FC Barcelona.
The Magpies, meanwhile, are understood to be in a good financial position to fund a deal that could bring Pogba to St James’ Park thanks to their new Saudi-led ownership.
