FC Platinum skipper Mhari rallies teammates

FC PLATINUM captain Petros Mhari has rallied his teammates to gear up for the clash against Bulawayo Chiefs in the Castle Challenge Cup at Mandava Stadium tomorrow.

Mhari, who is one of the most experienced players in the Zvishavane-based side and a central figure in their dominance of local football over the last four years, said it was important for the team to assert themselves by winning the 2023 season's curtain raiser.

He, however, conceded they were not expecting an easy match against a Chiefs side which is under the guidance of their former coach Lizwe Sweswe.

Mhari is mindful that the former FC Platinum coach knows their strengths and weaknesses having spent time at the Zvishavane-based club.

He said: “We are playing this season's first competitive match. We have to win but if we don't, we shall remain motivated because the season is starting soon.

“Everyone is ready and we are challenging ourselves to push harder so that we remain a force and also achieve the club's objectives.

“The opponent is tricky, so we are not leaving anything to chance as we hope to win and start our season on a high note.”

FC Platinum won the last three editions of the Challenge Cup, beating Harare City, Triangle and Highlanders.

They hold the advantage as the match will be played in their home ground, Mandava Stadium.

Meanwhile, coach Norman Mapeza has hinted that he is likely to test his new signings who include Jarrison Selemani and Misheck Ngwenya.
