ZIMBABWE International defender Takudzwa Chimwemwe is trying his luck at Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)’s TP Mazembe, it has emerged.

The 30-year-old former Harare City defence stalwart has been in the Central African country on a two-week trial stint.

Chimwemwe is currently club hunting after his contract with Zambia’s Nkana FC expired at the end of December.

He is hoping to clinch a deal with the serial DRC champions, which could make him one of the few Zimbabweans to play for the club.

Christopher Samakweri, Ali Sadiki and Darryl Nyandoro are some of the few Zimbabweans who played for the highly rated club.

Chimwemwe featured in a friendly match against Blessing FC in which they won 4-0 in Kamalondo.

The defender, who played for the Warriors at the last Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon last year, rose to stardom following an impressive stint at Harare City, that started in 2014.

He moved to Zambia in July 2019 as a Buildcon player before Kelvin Kaindu lured him to Nkana in January 2021.

Of all Zimbabweans who joined Nkana under Kaindu, Chimwemwe lasted the longest.

The likes of Talbert Shumba, Tichaona Chipunza and Kelvin Moyo failed to last a full season at the club.

So far, Tabani Kamusoko is the only Zimbabwean in the Nkana books
