A 27-YEAR-OLD man from Village 2 Insuza in Matabeleland North province has been sentenced to community service for threatening to kill his former girlfriend for ending their relationship.

Innocent Zwane pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube on Tuesday. He was sentenced to 240 hours of community service at Insuza Police Station.

The complainant in the matter is Nokukhanya Sibanda.

The court was told that Sibanda dumped Zwane after the relationship hit troubled times and later applied for a protection order against Zwane who she alleged was stalking and harassing her.

The protection order was granted on June 17, 2022.

However, during the period January 22 to February 14, 2023, Zwane visited Sibanda at her homestead several times during the night and threatened to axe her to death on one of his visits.
