The Bulawayo City Council plans to review Kumalo and Parkland suburbs development plans following indications that land use in the area was no longer conforming to the existing strategy document.
This was revealed by town planner Shelton Sithole during a master plan consultative meeting last week. Sithole said it was discovered that commercial activities in the two suburbs were not regulated.
“We want to accommodate commerce, mixed uses, densified communities, and also want to unlock land for residential and commercial development,” Sithole said.
He said the local authority would consult various stakeholders, including residents on the need to remodel the two suburbs.
“The commercial goal seeks to promote the development of a balanced range of commerce in the area to develop a mixed use that strategically positions various business uses in the study area,” he said.
“This plan unlocks investment in the city of Bulawayo.”
