BY WINSTONE ANTONIO AFTER collaborating with several top South African gospel music stars, Harare-based Seventh Day Adventist musical group, The Vine will be touring Mzansi for a potentially explosive night filled with praise and worship.

The Vine’s fans in South Africa have something to smile about as the group takes its latest live recorded 12-track album titled The Great Physician on a free Mzansi tour named after the album on September 30.

On the latest live recording, the 15-member musical group collaborated with a South African Grammy award-winning Soweto gospel choir, Mahalia Buchanan, Mabongi Mabaso and a 40-piece orchestra among others.

The free The Great Physician tour confirmed by The Vine director Everton Mlalazi is scheduled for the grand Sandton Convention Centre situated north of Johannesburg.

“We are excited to deliver some exciting news to our family out in South Africa. We are coming to Johannesburg on September 30 for the first stop of The Great Physician tour. This will be a night filled with worship and the presence of God,” Mlalazi told NewsDay Life & Style.

“It is surely going to be a night of worship, a night filled with the presence of God and it forms the inaugural leg of The Great Physician tour by The Vine. For those who want to be part of the free concert, they have to register on the link that will be provided on our social media pages and they will be good to go.”

The Great Physician tour will be headlined by The Vine, featuring Soweto Gospel Choir, The Vine Orchestra, Ntokozo Mbambo Mbatha, Mahalia Buchanan and Mabongi Mabaso Fero. It will also feature Mlalazi with his solo performances alongside South Africans Benjamin Dube and Xolly Mncwango. The latter two have collaborated with Mlazazi on solo productions and a sunrise act.

“Our music is more on the classical side and is very biased towards intricate harmonies which might be a bit different from others, but that does not make us any better, but rather makes us buttress our musical identity,” Mlalazi indicated.

Meanwhile, The Vine continues to release world-class videos on their YouTube channel off their latest album The Great Physician every Friday for the coming three months.

The latest release, which premiered on Friday is a wonderful piece titled God Can that features South African gospel singer Mahalia Buchanan of former celebrated Joyous Celebration choir, and has left their fans and followers asking for more.
